St Matthew's C.E Primary School

“I can do all things because Christ gives me strength” Philippians 4:13

Visions and Values

As a church school, our Christian beliefs and values are at the heart of everything we do. We understand how important it is to be part of a flourishing community and live life in all its fullness, through the ups and downs, the twists and turns, joy, pain, elation, and sorrow. Flourishing is never an individual pursuit, but a collective endeavour, released in relationship and communities that live well together. This means that every child and adult associated with our school is not just important because they are members of the school but because they are seen as unique individuals within God's creation who can do all things because of the strength Christ gives to them.

Our school recognises that as well as academic and emotional intelligence, human beings also have spiritual intelligence. Therefore, as a church school, we recognise the spiritual aspects of life, which are nurtured alongside the academic and emotional needs of all.

We aim to create a learning environment where challenge through questioning is encouraged, as through this, we can make sense of the world, the gift of life and the purpose of our own personal lives. One of our most important aims is to foster and nurture in our children a real sense of ambition and aspiration - we encourage every pupil to believe that they are capable of anything and that there is no limit to what they can achieve. In order to reflect this key aim, we have created the following school vision:

Our Vision

Rooted in our Christian values and TEAM spirit we will aspire to be an innovative and inspiring community where every individual is provided with the opportunity to flourish spiritually,

morally, emotionally, physically and intellectually.

We are ‘Individuals working together to potential with Godso

I can do all things because Christ gives me strength”

Philippians 4:13

The bible quote “I can do all things because Christ gives me strength” Philippians 4:13” fully encompasses what we are trying to achieve: our pupils having the strength and courage to live a full life, with no limit on their aspirations. Jesus calls us to a full life in mind, body, heart and spirit. We believe that the purpose of our education at St Matthew’s is to nurture every member of our community, for every child to thrive and be the person that they are fully capable of being. For us, living a full life is our children knowing that they are part of a TEAM. Underpinning this vision are our 4 core Christian values, which link to each aspect of our vision: Thankfulness, Enjoyment, Ambition and Mission.
