Homework
Homework will be set by your child’s class teacher weekly and will be based on what the children have been taught in school. We do expect parents to support their children to complete homework and to let us know how they get on.
In Nursery
In Nursery parents will receive a weekly newsletter regarding what the children have been learning to do that week. It will also contain ideas and suggestions of how you can continue to support the learning at home.
In Reception and Year 1
English and Maths
Your child will also be set weekly homework based on something that they have been learning about that week so should be familiar to them. This is usually linked to Literacy or Mathematics.
Reading
They will also be provided with a phonics-based reading book (they will be able to use their knowledge of sounds to sound out and blend to read the words with adult help) and a book that contains ‘tricky’ words (words they cannot sound out and will need to learn from sight). We encourage the children to read a minimum of 3 times a week in school.
