2nd Place Finish for the Football Team in tough Tournament

After a long break from all tournaments due to Covid 19, St Matthew's Primary School finally returned to the Telford and Wrekin sporting world. The school entered a mixed year 5 and 6 team into football tournament playing against Lilleshall, Redhill, Priorslee and Windmill. It was hosted at Telford College on the 3G facilities inside the Telford football Dome.

The team consisted of 8 players playing 6 a side matches against some tough opposition but the team rose to the occasion playing some fantastic football from silky dribbling in attack to tough tackles in defence. All the players played their part in the matches helping us secure 2 wins and 2 draws to narrowly miss out winning the group and earning ourselves a 1st place trophy. However, we have progressed to the next round of the competition awaiting for opponents from another group in the last 16.

Our results were:

Redhill 0 - 1 St Matthew's ( Harrison goal)

St Matthew's 4 - 0 Windmill (Harrison 2 goals, Marcel and Cambul goal)

Priorslee 2 - 2 St Matthew's (Cambul and Marcel one goal each)

Lilleshall 0 - 0 St Matthew's
