U11 Quarter final Loss to Shortwood Primary

Hard fought game against Short Wood Primary School!

At 14.30, St Matthews came out strong and ready for training half an hour before the Cup Match started!

On the field, we did passing drills and everyone one of us had a chance to shoot at our keeper, Harley. 15 minutes before the match, Short Wood Primary school arrived and we were ready to play.

5 minutes before kick-off, Mr Gray called us together for our big team talk. After our discussion, St Matthew’s were excited to start the match. The game was underway, and it was Short Wood's kick off. Short Wood had the possession of the ball so far and we were rushing out to get it.

Suddenly, Short Wood lost possession and St Matthew’s brilliant Chijioke intercepted the terrible pass. St Matthew’s was on the break now, but Harrison skimmed the post, and it went out for a goal kick. 5 minutes later, they had a shot from outside of the box and it was 1-0 to Short Wood. In the second half, we were 1-0 down and Chijioke got subbed off for Dyllon.

10 minutes later, they scored an open goal because the little winger scored from a rebound. After that, the ref blew the whistle for full time. It was a disappointing result for St Matthews, which was 2-0 to Short Wood. Although the result was disappointing we played to our best and gave everything we had. Well done St Matthew’s and Dyllon was man of the match for his heroic defending.
