A wonderful pilgrimage to St Matthew's Church

6KS and 56LW took part in a pilgrimage to St Matthew's church on 21st September to hour St Matthew's feast day.

On Wednesday 21st September 6KS and 56LW took part in a pilgrimage to St Matthew's Church, Donnington. We were very lucky to be joined by Revd Lisa Harper and Malcom (the crucifier) who helped us to remember the importance of the day. We started our pilgrimage by saying a prayer on our playground around the St Matthew reflection area. This helped us to focus our thoughts and get us ready to begin our procession. We then started to make our way to church with Revd Lisa and Malcolm leading the way. They were followed by our banner bearers, statue barer and school values barer. As we walked along, we listened to some Christian Worship music and held candles whilst we thought about the Christian Values that were shown by St Matthew. Once we arrived in church, we took our places in the pews and listened to the story of St Matthew, a reading from the gospel of St Matthew and had a moment of stillness whilst listening to some music. Once the service was over, we made our way back to school to end our pilgrimage.
